Now Hiring: UCLA Dream Resource Center (DRC) Director

The UCLA Labor Center is looking to hire a Director for the UCLA Dream Resource Center (DRC). The deadline to apply is March 4, 2022.

About the DRC 

The UCLA Dream Resource Center (DRC), a program team of the UCLA Labor Center, trains the next generation of diverse leaders—immigrant youth and allies with lived experiences—to be at the forefront of social justice movements and achieve equity and justice for workers, families, and communities. The DRC believes that anyone can be a leader and make positive social change in their communities and that everyone deserves the right to learn, be healthy, and pursue their dreams—regardless of their immigration status.

DRC Director Responsibilities

The DRC Director will:

  • Oversee the direction, planning, and development of the DRC’s programming, including but not limited to the annual Dream Summer Program, the Immigrant Justice Fellowship, the Undocumented Stories exhibit, DRC Alumni Council, DRC Alumni Network and alumni events, and publications.
  • Build relationships with immigrant youth and allied organizations nationwide, represent the DRC at stakeholder meetings and events, and oversee DRC outreach, communications, and branding.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the DRC, oversee the work of the DRC team, identify professional development opportunities for the team, conceive and implement DRC programming and events, chair program planning teams, and coordinate the work of the DRC with other Labor Center projects.
  • Analyze local and national trends in immigration, direct and implement research related to immigrant youth and organizations that support them, conceive and implement DRC grant and donor fund-raising, write grant applications and reports, manage and track grant deliverables to ensure that deliverables are met, oversee project and grant budgets, and scale the work of the DRC within budget parameters.
  • Implement a yearly strategic planning process to effectively execute the mission and vision of the DRC along with effective evaluation methods to ensure the success of DRC initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven management expertise to oversee complex projects, track project activities, and see activities through to completion.
  • Proven expertise at managing a project team, building team cohesiveness, maximizing staff skills and abilities, and handling conflicts.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact sensitively and to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, community members, workers, and outside organization officials and staff from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative team working relationships with supervisees, other staff, the university, and the community.
  • Proven experience with fund-raising, including foundation grants and gifts.
  • Strong research and writing skills and experience, including grant writing and reporting.
  • Public speaking skills and experience.
  • Experience and skill working with the media.
  • Knowledge of and experience with immigrant youth issues.
  • Knowledge of and experience with participatory education techniques.
  • Skill with conceiving, developing, and working within a budget.
